The Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council (OKYC) has raised alarm and concern over a massive oil spill caused by a drilling vessel owned by Brittina U Nigeria Limited at Ajakpa Field, OML 90, on July 18, 2024. While sympathising with Brittina-U over the incident, the OKYC emphasized the devastating impact on the ecosystem, aquatic life, and environment in Ogulagha Kingdom.

OKYC President, Comr. Roland Dede, stressed that the spill has affected multiple communities, including Ogulagha, Sokebolou, Youbebe, Youkiri, Obotobo 1 & 2, Obuguru, Okuntu, Osain, and Abrabebe. He called for a Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) to facilitate clean-up and remediation efforts.

They urged the Federal, State, and Local Governments to provide relief materials, adequate compensation, and appealed to NOSDRA and NEMA to intervene promptly.
