A political pressure group, the Tobu-Okun Political Forum (TOPF) has called on Amb. Dr. Apst. Godspower Tomone to contest for chairman Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The group appealed with Burutu stakeholders to consider the choice of Chief Tomone as chairman in the council, having done much for Burutu people and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the State.

This was contained in a letter addressed to His Excellency, Deacon (Barr) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State, dated January 17, 2022 which was signed by Mr Resident Kike, President, and Sir Lumumba Preboye, Secretary.

The group stated that since the creation of Burutu Local Government Council, the Tobu-Okun axis which comprised Burutu, Ofougbene, Odimodi, Kou Delta, Ogulagha Kingdom and other communities around the area were yet to occupy the Chairmanship position of the Local Government.

According to the group, Amb. Chief Dr. Godspower Tomone is their collective choice to carry on the legacies of Angele, the current Chairman of the Local Government when his second tenure must have ended, stressing that Tomone would deliver full democratic dividends when elected as Chairman of the Local Government.

The letter had particularly urged the deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro and other political actors in the Local Government to kindly ensure that Tomone emerged as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate at the party primaries, noting that choosing Tomone would make sense and will do the Local Government a lot of good.

However, Mr. Resident Kike and Sir Lumumba Preboye further maintained that Dr. Tomone is a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Ward 11, Burutu Local Government Area, adding that he had contributed both his personal resources in ensuring that the party comes out victorious in every elections.

Nevertheless, the letter revealed that Dr. Godspower Tomone has made several attempts to contest the Chairmanship position in the Local Government but have always listened to the voice of leaders, asserting that the time has come for the leaders to grant him his age long dream.

However, the duo had on behalf of all members of the group called on the traditional rulers of Iduwini Kingdom, Delta State, Ogulagha Kingdom, Obotebe Kingdom and other political leaders to see reason with them on the choice of Tomone, adding that he is God fearing and had the required leadership credentials to move the Local Government forward.
