The Association of Coastal and Waterway Communities of Nigeria paid a familiarization visit to the Burutu Local Government Council under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele on Thursday.

The visit also had the Burutu Divisional Police Officer, the DSS, the Immigration Officer, and the leadership of the Civil Defence in attendance.

In their separate speeches, the National President and the Delta State Chairman, Comrade Nicholas Bawo Ighomi, and Engr (Deacon)Tuoyo Woligho respectively appreciated the Council Boss for the hospitality shown to them.

The duo who unveiled the mission and vision of the body stated: “The Association is a registered pressure group with the Corporate Affairs Commission and has a working Constitution which spells out its mode of operation.”

The group further said, “The Association is a bridge between Coastal communities and the government, its agencies, and multinationals operating within the area. The body is willing to form a synergy with the Burutu Local Government.

In response, the Council Boss who was flanked by the LGA Secretary, Senior Political Adviser, Head of Personnel Management, and other senior officers reiterated the need to involve all community chairmen as it would be difficult to achieve success without their collaboration.

While endorsing the Association, he promised to provide office space for the Association within the Council secretariat.

His words, “I want to advise you on the need to work with all community chairmen in the local government area to ensure that you succeed. Partnering and working with the security outfits within the Council will also be beneficial as it will create a better working relationship,” he added.

However, the high point of the visit was the presentation of the Association’s mandate/policy statement manual to the chairman, DPO, and DSS.

The visit had General Dennis Gawei, chairman, of ACWCN Burutu LGA, and his executive members.
