Some leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state have refuted the rumoured attack on the Delta South senatorial aspirant, Hon Michael Diden, alias Ejele during his consultative meeting at Burutu on Saturday, adding that the meeting ended peacefully.

But some youths who spoke to Congress correspondent in Warri, Delta state, insisted that the meeting ended in a rowdy session, adding there was no attack on Ejele as reported.

The Burutu PDP chairman, Mr Ebike Oromoni and Delta South senatorial PDP youth leader, Comrade Emma Akpule had condemned the report making round that Ejele was attacked in Burutu during his consultative visit to the local government, adding that the report was the handiwork of mischief-makers.

The duo narrated that the meeting was strictly for party stakeholders and was not for everybody to attend, but was unfortunately witnessed by some intruders at the point of closing prayers.

The party leaders further said the youths who were not invited only accused them of not allowing them to ask the senatorial aspirant some questions concerning his support for the Ijaw governorship, noting that the meeting was not inconclusive.

A youth in the community identified as Preye Martins who spoke to Congress newspaper said the meeting ended in a rowdy session but no attack was launched against the senatorial aspirant. He said trouble started when the concerned youths were blocked from asking the senatorial aspirant, Ejele question.

Preye pointed out that there was a heated argument between the party leaders and the concerned youths in the meeting. He further posited that Ejele quickly left the venue of the meeting immediately when the fracas broke out to avoid any harassment and assault.

Recall, some media houses earlier reported that the Delta South senatorial aspirant, Ejele narrowly escaped an attack by angry youths during his consultative visit to Burutu Local Government Council.

The reports accused Ejele of refusing to respond to questions asked by the youths on whether he is supporting the Ijaw governorship for coming to ask for Ijaw support in his senatorial ambition.
