Controversy in APC as Buhari adopts Lawan as presidential primary poll holds June 7 (today)

Anxiety in All Progressives Congress (APC) following the announcement by its national chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu that Ahmed Lawan was president Muhammadu Buhari’s preferred candidate to fly the party’s presidential flag.

Adamu made this known at the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday in Abuja, ahead of today’s presidential primaries.

He, however, lamented that other aspirants including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Dr. Kayode Fayemi and David Umah etc will be allowed to contest the primary at the convention holding today 7th June at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The party’s NWC members posited that other aspirants must be given a level playing ground to compete.

However, there has been a controversy within the party after Adamu’s announcement of Lawan as Buhari’s choice as it was against the position of the eleven APC northern Governors, who insisted that power must shift to the South after Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

Adamu told the National Working Committee that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after critical consultation with president Buhari.
