Customs, World Bank Group Strengthen Post Clearance Audit Capacity

The Nigeria Customs Service has commenced a two-week technical assistance mission on Post Clearance Audit (PCA) with the World Bank Group under the Accelerated Revenue Mobilisation Reform (ARMOR) Programme in Abuja.

A statement by Service Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, says Assistant Comptroller-General Babatunde Olomu, who stood in for the Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi, described the mission as a key step in advancing Customs modernisation and strengthening a technology-driven, intelligence-led, and globally competitive administration.

He says the programme will assess existing processes, identify operational gaps, adopt international best practices, and improve areas such as risk-based targeting, case management, quality assurance, standardization, and integrated audit systems.

He remarks that effective Post Clearance Audit promotes strategic compliance management, enhances revenue assurance, facilitates legitimate trade, improves transparency, and builds public confidence.

World Bank Task Team Lead, Moses Kajubi, says the mission will equip officers with practical audit tools, global best-practice structured case management techniques, and data-driven compliance strategies that can be adapted to Nigeria’s operational environment.
