Delta 2023: Ijaw leaders converge, throw weight behind PDP guber candidate, Oborevwori

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Ijaw leadership in Delta State has converged to synergize as to work in unity to support the PDP gubernatorial candidate Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in the state.

The leaders and stakeholders made this position in a meeting which was held on Sunday 18th December, 2023 at Alaowei Broderick Bozimo’s residence in Warri, Delta state.

The meeting was converged by Ijaw elders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) which to discuss the position of the Ijaws in the forthcoming elections in the state.

The meeting which was attended by Ijaw leaders across Delta State at the residence of Alaowei Broderick Bozimo was to strategise on modalities to deliver the PDP governorship candidate in the state.

The high point of the meeting was the inauguration of a 7- man committee which was chaired by Wing commander PY Biakpara to mobilise and unite Ijaws to give their total support to Oborovweri, the PDP governorship candidate during the next year’s general elections.

The committee was also mandated to unveil the Ijaw vision plan and mobilise massively for Oborovweri to show the Ijaw commitment ahead of the 2023 polls.

While responding, the Committee’s chair, Biakpara said the committee would deliver on the mandate given to them. Other members of the Committee are Chief J.T Government, Chief Boro Opudu, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, Barr. David Ekereokosu, Chief Godbless Omoniyi and Dagidi Andaye as Secretary.

Among those in attendance were Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, Chief Peter Y. Biakpara, Prof. Benjamin Okaba (INC President), Chief Julius Takeme, Prince Johnny Okpambeni, Chief J.T Government, Barr. Veronica Bamuza-Mutu, Barr. Neworld Safugha, Pastor Kenneth Ogeibiri, Engr Izonebi Oyakemeagbegha(Publicity Secretary INC), Hon. Godknows Angele, Burutu LGA chairman, Dr Barry Gbe, Chief Dagidi Andaye, Chief Famous Ofobiri, Barr. Ekpese, Dr. Roland Kemefa, Chief Godbless Omoniyi and several others.
