Delta CP, INEC REC Meet in Asaba to Strengthen Election Security Collaboration

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring peaceful democratic processes and adequate security during electoral activities across the state.

The assurance came on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Delta State, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, to the Command Headquarters in Asaba.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and INEC, particularly in the areas of election security, public safety, and the sustenance of peaceful democratic processes in Delta State.

Both officials reportedly discussed the importance of synergy among relevant institutions in maintaining law and order before, during, and after elections, as well as strategies aimed at promoting credible and violence-free electoral processes.

The visit also highlighted the existing working relationship between the Delta State Police Command and INEC, with both parties expressing readiness to continue cooperating in the interest of democracy and public peace.

The Delta State Police Command reiterated its resolve to provide a secure environment that will enable residents to participate freely in democratic activities without fear or intimidation.
