The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, has continued his familiarisation tour with a visit to the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe I, JP, OON, and the Effurun Area Command, as part of efforts to strengthen community policing and address security challenges across the state.

During the courtesy visit to the royal palace, the Commissioner thanked the monarch for his counsel and prayers, stressing that effective policing depends on sustained cooperation between the police and members of the public.

Erale disclosed that Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers had been directed to ensure that cases involving sexual abuse, defilement, incest and other serious offences were thoroughly investigated and not unlawfully compromised.

He also raised concern over the growing threats of cultism and drug abuse, describing them as dangers to the future of young people and the safety of communities.

In his response, the Ovie of Uvwie expressed confidence in the Commissioner’s ability to address the security challenges confronting Delta State and pledged the continued support of the traditional institution through intelligence sharing and cooperation with the police.

On electoral security, the monarch promised to encourage his subjects to participate peacefully in political activities and collaborate with security agencies to prevent electoral violence in Uvwie Kingdom and the state at large.

At the Effurun Area Command, the Commissioner addressed police personnel and community stakeholders, including the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP), and the Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Hon. Chief Solomon Ighrakpata.

He charged officers and men to uphold professionalism, discipline and commitment to duty, while urging community leaders to provide credible and timely information to support crime prevention and security operations.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to tackle cultism, drug abuse and sexual offences through proactive policing and sustained collaboration with traditional rulers, government officials and community stakeholders.
