Delta Police, Customs Strengthen Partnership to Combat Crime in Edo and Delta

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and combat crime across Delta and Edo states.

This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Area Controller of the Edo/Delta Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Judith Kanu, to the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The visit, according to the Command, was aimed at deepening existing cooperation between both security agencies in the areas of intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and effective law enforcement within the two states.

Speaking during the engagement, Controller Kanu emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among security agencies, noting that unified operations significantly improve the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts.

She stated that stronger cooperation between the Police and Customs Service would not only enhance operational efficiency but also send a strong message to criminal elements that security agencies remain united and determined in tackling crime and other unlawful activities.

In his remarks, CP Oyeniyi appreciated the Customs Area Controller and her delegation for the visit, describing the relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the Customs Service as vital to public safety and national security.

The Police Commissioner stressed that collaboration between both agencies remains indispensable, adding that the Police and Customs Service complement each other in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

The meeting further underscored the shared commitment of both agencies toward promoting proactive policing, strengthening institutional partnerships, and improving security coordination across Delta and Edo states.
