Delta Police Impound 21 Vehicles in Intelligence-Led Crackdown on Traffic, Security Violations

The Delta State Police Command has impounded 21 vehicles during an intelligence-led enforcement operation aimed at tackling traffic violations and enhancing public safety across Abraka and Ozoro.

The operation, conducted on July 21, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, who supervised command operatives on a strategic patrol targeting traffic-related offences and other security concerns.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the vehicles were impounded for offences including the non-display of registration number plates, the use of covered number plates, and expired vehicle documentation. The command stated that all affected vehicles will undergo the appropriate legal and administrative procedures.

The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, emphasized that vehicles without proper identification or valid documentation pose serious security threats, noting that such vehicles can easily be exploited for criminal activities.

He urged motorists across the state to comply with all existing traffic and vehicle registration regulations, warning that the command will sustain intelligence-driven enforcement operations to improve public safety, strengthen security, and ensure strict adherence to the law.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and called on residents to support ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining law and order across the state.
