DHQ Vows Fierce Response to Killing of 5 Soldiers in Abia

By Peters Monday, Abuja
The Defence Headquarters has condemned the killing of five soldiers deployed to protect citizens in Abia State, attributing the attack to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a statement, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, vowed that the military would respond fiercely to the attack on its troops at a checkpoint in Abia State.
According to the statement, the soldiers were attacked and killed by IPOB/ESN terrorists while enforcing peace and protecting citizens in Obingwa Local Government Area. The terrorists, who arrived in three tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and from surrounding built-up areas, launched a surprise attack on the checkpoint, resulting in the loss of five personnel.
The military has initiated an investigation into the attack and reiterated that winning the war against terrorism requires the support of the people. The statement emphasized that the military would bring overwhelming pressure on the group to ensure their total defeat, and that each soldier lost in battle is a significant loss.
