Kano Game Of Thrones As Disposed Ado Bayero, Sanusi ll To Lead Jumaat Prayers

The ancient city of Kano is gripped with tension as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero have announced plans to lead Jumaat prayers at the Palace Central Mosque. Danburan, a palace official, extended an invitation to Islamic worshipers in Kano to attend the sermon to be delivered by Emir Sanusi II on Friday.

Emir Sanusi II, who resides in the palace adjacent to the contested mosque, is expected to lead the two-rakat Friday prayers. Since his reinstatement, he has been the principal Emir leading Jumaat prayers at the Palace Central Mosque.

In a statement signed by Danburan Kano and Munir Sanusi Bayero, the reinstated Emir Sanusi II’s plans to lead the Jumaat prayers were confirmed. Meanwhile, an aide to the deposed Emir Ado Bayero also issued a statement urging residents to attend the Central Mosque for Friday prayers, with the procession to the Emir’s Palace Mosque scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm.

The police have yet to comment on this latest development in the ongoing emirate succession crisis in Kano.
