Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Hon. Dominic Pudiya Biakpara, Councilor representing Tamigbe ward 3 in Burutu Legislative Arm and Majority Leader of the House officially announced his intention to run for the Delta State House of Assembly, Burutu South constituency seat.
The Majority Leader who is also the National Vice President of the National Councilors Forum of Nigeria made this known to newsmen on Friday 25th March 2022 at his country home, Tamigbe in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, when he visited his ward to officially declare his intention.
The Honourable Councilor was received by his Ward 3 PDP Exco and stakeholders where he was endorsed and anointed.
The grassroots lawmaker, speaking during his declaration said: “Twelve years ago I contested same election and came a close second. This time victory is sure because we have come a long way since the 2011 elections. I have had my tutelage as majority Leader in the 6th and now 7th Assembly”.
He noted that the Legislative experience he has had in the past years in the Local Government Legislative Arm where he was chairman Business and rules makes him a round peg in a round hole.
Pudiya stated he was very familiar with the terrain in Asaba the state capital based on his earlier role as Community liaison officer for the dredging river Niger project, where he dealt with over 500 communities.
It would be recalled that Hon. Dominic Pudiya Biakpara organized the South-South security Conference as the chairman of The National Councilors Forum S/South zone in his first tenure as Councilor.
The lawmaker also said he would use his good office as a State Legislator to make laws that would increase the economic base of his people to slow the urban migration trend from the creeks and also move the government to establish more schools within the rural communities as the terrain is best for learning.
This regard, Mr. Ambrose Oseseama ward 3 PDP party chairman, threw support for Hon. Biakpara’s ambition to go to the State assembly.
According to the PDP ward chairman, “Today is a day of celebration, as we have a capable Aspirant to contest and hopefully win the Delta State House of Assembly Burutu Constituency II seat. A seat that has eluded the Ward since created. Notwithstanding the ward’s contribution to the victory of the PDP since 1999 can’t be overemphasized.
He said “ Hon. Biakpara had the capacity to represent his people at any level but they are happy to vote him to the state legislature to continue his quality representation.
