Edo Speaker Reacts To Impeachment Move Against Deputy Governor, Shaibu

The Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku has reacted against the move to serve an impeachment notice on the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu. This was a collective decision reached by 21 of 24 members of the house, according to report.

Congress learnt from a reliable source that the speaker disclosed this when he was receiving members of the Catholic Men Organization of Nigeria, Benin Chapter, in his office in Benin on Tuesday.

The group said they were in the assembly to wade into the impeachment move when the house was making a decisive steps against the deputy governor.

Agbebaku thanked the members of the organisation for their peace visit, emphasised that they are made up of 24 Assembly members.

Meanwhile, any decision taken in the house is what will going to stand, “21 out of 24 members had signed and been a servant of the other 3 members too, my hands are tight here” he said.

According to the speaker, if there is ever going to be any resolution of the issue, it will be firmly resolve by the majority members of the house and it cannot be solely decided by him.
