Amid the ongoing rift between Zamafara State Governor, Bello Matawalle and Economic and Financial Crime Commission Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the state governor as alleged that EFCC chairman requested for $2 million bribe from him.

Recall that there was an ongoing campaign against the EFCC chairman, that he should resigned.

The executive governor of Zamafara State, Bello Matawalle, speaking during an interview with the BBC, maintained that the EFCC boss must resigned, because he had questions to answer on corruption.

However, Bawa replied Matawalle that he had nothing to hide, and asked Matawalle to petition appropriate authority if he had enough evidence against him.

Matawalle asserted during the interview that it is not just to blame governors. It’s not only governors who have treasury, the federal government also has.

He asserted that if the EFCC boss had any corruption evidence against the governors as he is claiming, he should show to the world at federal level.

Matawalle maintained that if Bawa exits office, it will be clear that he is not an honest person, adding that he had evidence against him.

“He asked a bribe of $2 million from me and i have evidence of this. The governor asserted

“He invited me to a house, and told me some conditions. He told me governors were going to his office but i did not. If i didn’t have any evidence i will not say this.
