Failure to Empower Youths is a Ticking Time Bomb -Ozobo Warns Ijaw Leaders
By Peters Monday, Abuja
In a stern warning, distinguished Comrade Ozobo Austin, Niger Delta rights activist has cautioned Ijaw political leaders who are deliberately refusing to empower and support youths, stating that such leaders are essentially living in a state of precarious uncertainty, akin to a ticking time bomb. This admonition serves as a clarion call to Ijaw political leaders to prioritise youth development and empowerment, lest they face unforeseen consequences.
Ozobo’s statement emphasised the imperative of investing in youths, who are the future leaders and drivers of progress. By failing to do so, leaders risk creating an atmosphere of discontent, frustration, and potentially, social unrest.
The warning underscores the need for Ijaw political leaders to recognise the value of empowering youths, providing them with opportunities, resources, and mentorship to thrive. By doing so, leaders can harness the energy, creativity, and innovation of young people, fostering a brighter future for all.
He further stressed that leaders who empowered youths, providing them with opportunities, resources, and mentorship to thrive are equally building a future for themselves at retirement age from service.
Ozobo maintained that Ijaw political leaders who are always fighting for self-aggrandizement and leaving youths empowerment in assumption of public office will not escape the looming calamity of rebellion and ferocious attacks in the nearest future.
“Leaders who are building a society of restive and hostile youths for failing to empower them will be hunted, no amount of security they built around themselves could save them when the time comes”, he added.
