Fanfare as Souraghagbene Community Celebrates New Leadership

The Riverine community of Souraghagbene in Warri South West Local Government Area was alive with excitement as personalities from across Warri converged on the community to witness the inauguration of its new leadership, with Mr Arthur Mokena at the helm.
The event, presided over by the administrative head of the community, Chief Bene Mamamu, was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the president of the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF), Amb. (Hon.) Comrade Ozobo Austin. The occasion was further enlivened by a thrilling performance by young music star, Sir Smally Okpe, and traditional dance and cultural displays.
In his address, Amb. (Hon.) Comrade Ozobo Austin, the chairman of the occasion, urged the new leadership to demonstrate commitment and dedication to serving the community. He emphasized the importance of putting the people’s interests above all else.
In his inaugural speech, Chairman Mr Arthur Mokena expressed concern over the neglect of the community by the state and local government authorities. He lamented the lack of development in the area, citing it as a major challenge that his administration would work to address.
Mokena pledged to lead with integrity, transparency, and courage, promising a departure from “business as usual”. He outlined his vision for the community, emphasizing unity, accountability, and progress.
The new chairman also acknowledged the sacrifices of security agencies, particularly the military, in maintaining law and order in the community. He pledged to build a strong partnership with them to guarantee effective security within the environment.
He, however, thanked HRM King Couple Oromoni morbene III of the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, chairman of the local government council, Chief Sylvester Oromoni, Chief Favor Izuokumor, DESOPADEC Director, Frank Omare, former commissioner of environment in Delta State and Amb. Bene Mamamu, administrative head of the community for their support for making the inauguration a great success.
