Fatal auto crash kills 6, injures 19 in Bauchi

About six persons were killed and 19 others seriously injured in a ghastly road accident in Bauchi state on Monday.

The incident occured at about 6.20 pm when two commercial vehicles collided on Monday.

It was learnt that the accident was caused by worn-out tyres from one of the vehicles.

Among 25 affected persons, 23 are male adults, one female adult and one female child.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Sector Command, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the accident to journalists in Bauchi, the state capital on Tuesday.

The sector commander said, the crash involving two commercial vehicles, all Ford Galaxy buses, occurred at Durum Village along Bauchi-Kano Road federal highway at about 6.42pm.

“One of them was driven by one Ibrahim Abduljalal and had the registration number: JJN 712 YX. The name of the driver of the second vehicle and the registration number could not yet be ascertained,” Abdullahi said.

According to him, his personnel rushed to the scene of the crash and took the victims to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for treatment and confirmation, where a medical doctor confirmed the six male adults dead.
