Falana Sets To Defend Seun Kuti Over Assault On Police

Following ongoing drama between a police officer and Afro-singer, Seun Kuti, famous human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, have said that he is ready to defend the Afro-singer, for his actions where he slapped a police officer.

The human rights lawyer stated that his client has enough evidence to support his action.

Recall, on Saturday, May 13, a video went viral on social media where the artist slapped a policeman whom he accused of attempting to kill him and his family.

Following the incident, the Police Inspector General ordered the arrest of the singer, but as of the time of this report, all efforts made by the command to arrest Seun Kuti proved abortive.

The chairman of the Police Service Commission, Solomon Arase, also condemned the action by the singer, he asserted that no matter the offence, nobody had the right to assault a policeman on official duty.

He added that it’s sad the incident happened at a time when the Police Force management was dealing with officers who intimidate, assaulte or harassed civilians.

However, it was gathered that there is a probability the singer, Seun Kuti submit himself to the Police on Monday 15 May.
