Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organization has advised governors-elect to start looking for other means to generate income in their various states, and not depend on Crude oil.

Iweala made this known during an induction organized for governors-elect in Abuja.

She said that each state needs to start preparing for a time when oil and gas will no longer serve as the main source of revenue.

Iweala added that governors should start now to diversify revenue sources, by seeking double growth rates and sustain higher growth.

However, the WTO Director-General urged the governors to rebuild trust through their policies and programmes to be able to have Nigerian support.

Iweala asserted that following the 2023 elections, a lot of trust has been broken, and urged the governors that Nigerians can be shown love through their deeds and policies.
