Fire guts popular Warri market, destroys properties worth millions of naira

Popular Ogbe-Ijoh market in Warri waterside, in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state have been gutted by suspected fire on Sunday afternoon.Congress gathered that the market had been razed by unknown fire several times which had caused multiple damages.Source hinted Congress news said properties and goods worth millions of naira had been consumed by the ragging inferno.The source said the Delta state fire service was deployed to put off the fire as about 100 chops, fishes and other valuable properties were razed.Our source added that the fire may have been caused by electric spark as it occurred in a broad day.

While other sources described it as an act of sabotage, adding that the market security should be held responsible for the dastardly act.

A victim who spoke to Congress newspaper said she lost goods worth a million naira, describing the incident as sad and retrogressive.

However, victims while calling for relief efforts, urged the state government to end the reoccurring dilemma of fire incident in the market.
