Flood threatens riverine communities in Delta as residents seek govt intervention

Published

on

The people of the Riverine Communities in Burutu, Bomadi, and Patani Local Government Areas of Delta state have cried aloud over the increasing flood ravaging the Communities.

The panicked residents had appealed to the Delta State government and relevant authorities to relocate the affected people to the upland, adding that the incident in the year 2012 may repeat itself.

Following the heavy flooding, several riverine communities’ schools have been shut down to ensure the safety of students in such schools.

The residents of the affected communities had been rendered homeless as their homes had been occupied by flood and other dangerous animals.

They urged the Delta state governor, senator Ifeanyi Okowa and leaders representing the affected local government areas to swing into action to save lives.
