Fuel subsidy: Delta Youths Appeal To Oborevwori To Provide Succour For Suffering Masses

The Coalition of Delta Youth Leaders Forum, the apex youth body in the state has appealed to the governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sheriff Oborevwori to provide succour to mitigate and cushion the negative effects of the fuel subsidy removal in the state.

The youths, in a statement signed by its President General, Comrade Gometi Crested described the current situation of the economy following the recent hike in fuel price as hazardous and a major threat to daily survival of the common man in the street.

The statement reads, “the masses are already overwhelmed with the high cost of living even before the removal of subsidy, and struggling to cope with that unpleasant state of things which has thrown so many families into unhealthy state, now the hardship has tripled, and the effects are beyond description.

“It’s very unfortunate that Deltans are swimming in this kind of overwhelming hardship in spite of our ocean of God given natural resources. These are some of the reasons why the push for resource control can’t be totally eliminated.

“I hereby call on our Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori
to please workout ways to cushion the effects, especially in the area of transportation and palliatives.

“I also use this opportunity to call on Deltans, particularly the youths to remain calm, law abiding and double our efforts in our daily activities to sail through this ugly situation.

“The state is ours, and we must do everything possible within our capacity to support the government of Sheriff Oborevwori to redeem the glory of our dear State.

“The steps he took so far in the few days in office suggest that he is fully prepared to transform the State, and we would put in our best to support his good vision to take Delta State to an enviable state.

According to the president, the emergence of the Coalition of Delta Youth Leaders Forum had given the youths a window to work in unity to support all stakeholders, especially the government to achieve the MORE agenda, adding that the Youths would do their best to secure peaceful environment for all investors to strive smoothly in Delta State.
