GbaramatuVoice announces programmes for 7th-anniversary event

The GbaramatuVoice newspaper has revealed programmes lined up for its 7th-anniversary Lecture/Niger Delta Awards 2022 which is slated for August 30.

Congress gathered that the event would kick off on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, by 10:00 am, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

However, the theme of this year’s anniversary celebration/lecture is titled: “Oil politics, Securing National Assets, Dependency and Diversification.”

According to a statement by the CEO/Publisher, Jacob Abai, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva, the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources would be the keynote speaker of the event.

He also stated that Prince Adewole Adebayo, 2023 Social Democratic Party, SDP, Presidential Candidate would be the chairman of this year’s 7th-anniversary celebration, while His Excellency Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State would be the Chief Host.

He gave names of the Special Guest of Honours as His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Dr Samuel Ortom, Executive Governor of Benue State, and Mallam Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Others include Dr Efiong Akwa, Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and Mr Richard Kennedy, Chairman/Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria Limited

Also expected at the event, are traditional rulers from the Niger Delta, captains of industries within and outside the country, executives of International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the country, and public office holders from the Niger Delta region, leaders of specialized groups in Nigeria, among others.

The statement explained that the anniversary lecture would centre on critical new research themes such as sustainable development goals in the Niger Delta, adding that its deliberations would address all spectra of analyses including the oil and gas industry.

The statement reads: “The present edition is the 7th in the series and the second to be hosted at the Abuja Transcorp Hilton, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The first was in the year 2015. Other venues that have in the past played host to this prestigious event are; Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, and Lagos respectively.

“The GbaramotuVoice annual lecture has a rich history of promoting national unity, recognizing the good works of various individuals that have positively imprinted their names in various areas of human endeavours while contributing to the life chances of humanity.

“List of eminent Awardees made up of Nigerians and Non-Nigerians drawn from different sectors of human endeavours through rigorous but transparent process shall be made known to the general public in due course.

“GbaramatuVoice, established in 2015, has grown into a global multi-media organization with newspapers, websites, and apps serving millions of readers around the world as an important media in the Niger Delta. The newspaper shoulders an even more significant responsibility as it continues its quest to serve as a bridge between Niger Delta communities and the rest of the world,” the statement added.
