Gov Idris Swears-In Newly Appointed LG Chairmen

The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Tuesday sworn-in 21 local government Chairmen and spurred them to stay closer to their people at the grassroots and always be in their offices to attend to their assignments.

The governor had, last month, dismissed all the elected chairmen of the 21 LGs of the state and their secretaries.

The dissolution of the chairmen, according to the governor was due to the expiration of their term in office which ended on February 5 2024.

The inauguration of the new appointed Chairmen at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, the governor said, “As Chairmen in the local government, I urge you to stay with your people instead of leaving them and staying in the state capital.

“I endear you to work hard, do your work honestly to justify the confidence the people reposed in you and the State government.

The governor said the new birth of LG Chairmen are blended by both the experienced and young politicians, “so that the young can learn from the experienced politicians.

“Remember, I pledged that my government will go with both seasoned (old) politicians and young (youths), this mixed birth of politicians you are seeing today is in testament of my promise.

“I want the old, experienced and seasoned politicians to garner the young ones because the youth are our future leaders.”

Responding on behalf of the other Chairmen, the newly elected Chairman of Birnin Kebbi, Dahiru Nayaya-Ambursa assured the governor of continued prop toward the success of his government.

According to a statement signed by the spokesman for the governor, Ahmed Idris, and made available to Congress news on Tuesday, the new elected Chairmen assured the governor that they would never let him down.

“Nayaya-Ambursa also noted that they would do everything possible within their reach to bring positive development to their respective local government areas”, Idris said in the statement.

Among the newly appointed Chairmen are Alhaji Dahiru Nayaya Ambursa (Birnin Kebbi), Alhaji Yahaya Bala Kuka (Kalgo), Ibrahim Isah Jega (Jega), Muhammad Lawal (Suru) and Adamu Liba for Maiyama local government area.
