Great Ogboru Wins ADC Governorship Ticket in Delta for 2027

Veteran politician and former governorship contender, Chief Great Ogboru, has secured the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket to run for governor of Delta State in the 2027 general elections. He defeated Dr Emmanuel Unuafe in the party’s primary poll.

Declaring the outcome at the ADC State Secretariat in Asaba, the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Prof. Patrick Sambo Williams, said Ogboru garnered 38,151 votes against Unuafe’s 1,182 votes.

According to the party, the primaries—held for the State Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship slots—were conducted peacefully across Delta State and in line with the party’s constitution and electoral rules.

Williams described the process as transparent and orderly, calling on all aspirants and party members to close ranks ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.

Ogboru’s supporters celebrated the announcement, voicing optimism about the ADC’s prospects in the state.
