Gunmen kill two in Bayelsa riverine community

An alleged militia group led by one Victor has been accused of killing two youths in Letugbene community during the weekend.

The incident occurred when the militia group which was allegedly led by Mr Victor stormed the Letugbene community and whisked away the two victims after accusing them of being an informers to the military in the area.

A community source who spoke with Congress newspaper on Wednesday said the victims were shot dead after being taken away by the gunmen.

The source said despite of earness plea by the traditional ruler of the community, the gunmen went ahead and brutally murdered them.

According to the source, the group had become notorious in the area, adding that the military should timely clamp down on them before they become Lords of the creek.

However, the Bayelsa police Spokesman could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
