House receives Executive bill to establish Delta State Social Investment Programme

Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly presided over today’s (24-10-2023) plenary wherein the house received an Executive bill for a law to establish the Delta State social investment programme, the social investment committee and for providing a comprehensive framework for social investment policies and other related purposes from His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State.

The Bill when passed seeks to provide the legal framework for the establishment of a social investment programme and social investment committee designed to provide social security, alleviate poverty and improve the economic conditions of vulnerable citizens of the State, including but not limited to children, youths, women, the physically challenged, the aged and traders.

Furthermore, the social investment programme will contribute significantly to the socio-economic growth, reduce poverty and distribute resources equitably in the State.

Moreover, the proposed Bill is divided into 6 (six) parts and has a total of 25 (twenty-five) clauses

Also, Rt. Hon. Guwor welcomed and appreciated the visit of the member representing Egor State Constituency and deputy majority whip, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Natasha Irobosa Osawaru Igbenedion to the hallowed Chamber of the Delta State House of Assembly.
