How cult clash paralyzed commercial activities in the Igbudu market
By Teide Emomotimi
There was a fierce gun duel between two rival cult groups in Igbudu Market in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday where one resident was seriously wounded by a stray bullet.
The groups which were alleged to be resident cult groups fired gunshots intermittently at one another for about an hour before security operatives intervened.
It was learnt that commercial activities in the popular Igbudu market, popularly known as the Hausa quarters were paralyzed as traders took to their heels for safety.
It was also gathered that the group clashed over a supremacy struggle in the area and that similar clashes had been recorded in the market in recent times.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, Asaba, DSP Bright Edafe, could not confirm the incident when contacted by newsmen.
Meanwhile, the traditional head, the Ovie of Agbarha Warri of Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community Warri, Chief Julius Edafiadjebre, confirmed the development to journalists.
