A Brazilian police inspector shot dead four colleagues at the station where they were working on Sunday.

According to the state civil police on the Instagram social network, the tragic tragedy occurred in Camocim, a few kilometers from Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará.

The suspect fled in a police car and surrendered to authorities at the Military Police barracks, according to a city security official who was off duty at the time of the shooting.

Ceará’s Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense said the case is under investigation and the police station had been isolated to gather evidence.

Elmano de Freitas, the governor of Ceará, expressed his condolences to family members, friends and security personnel, adding that his administration “will provide the family members with all the necessary support.”
