No fewer than four teenagers on Tuesday drowned at a beach in Lagos State while celebrating their success in the last WAEC examination.

Congress gathered that the teenagers went to the beach to catch a cruise after discovering that they had successfully passed all their required papers.

Sources said the deceased victims were earlier swimming in the shallow parts but eventually accelerated to the deep and drowned.

The incident had been confirmed by the Lagos State Police command. In a post shared by the Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on his verified Twitter page said the incident had been reported to the police.

He added that the teenagers drowned at the beach on Tuesday after receiving their examination results.

Hundeyin urged parents and guardians to guard their children to avoid such incidents.

His tweet read: “I’ve talked about drowning about water travel and swimming pools. Still, parents/guardians, have a heart-to-heart talk with your teenagers to avoid losing them.

“Four teenagers drowned at a Lagos beach after collecting their exam results in school. Take heed!” he added.
