The Military under the Operational (code name) Joint Task Force has been accused of desecration of worship centres in Ogbomotoro 1&2 communities in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the military invaded the community on June 26, 2022, where an Egbesu (traditional worship centre) and Glorious Baptist church were desecrated.

The community narrated during a visit by the Congress Metro crew on Tuesday 12, 2022 that there is no issue of militancy and bunkering activities in the community but was surprised to be invaded by military Operatives.

They, however, accused an ousted monarch of the community to have instigated the military invasion of the Communities.

Our correspondents who visited the Ogbomotoro 1&2 communities discovered the debris and allegedly destroyed properties of the worship centres of two communities.

This action of the military was seen as an aberration to the Nigeria constitution where the right of worship is bestowed on Nigerian citizens.

The community who called for the removal of the military houseboats in the community, said their women are under constant military harassment in the community.
