Ijaw Youth Leader Backs IYC’s 7-day Ultimatum To NNPCLOver Bille Oil Pollution

A prominent Ijaw youth leader, Comrade Fiyebo Eperetei Godspower has thrown his weight behind the 7-day ultimatum issued to the NNPCL by the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, led by Comrade Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete.
The ultimatum was given over the worsening of environmental pollution and hazardous conditions in Bille Kingdom, Okrika LGA of Rivers State.
Comrade Fiyebo, immediate past Financial Secretary of the IYC National Electoral Committee 2026 and Founder/National Coordinator of the Arogbo Ijaw Youth Network, AIYN, described the IYC’s action as bold and timely.
He said the ultimatum is necessary to end over two years of continuous oil pollution, environmental degradation, and health hazards suffered by the people of Bille.
Fiyebo accused the leadership of NNPCL of insensitivity and corruption, alleging that the company does not care about the welfare of the Bille people.
In his words: “NNPCL cannot endure for one hour the kind of pain our people are going through. If they do, they will end up in hospitals in India or Germany.”
The youth leader commended the Dr. Okotete-led IYC executives, describing it as visionary, vibrant, dependable, and people-oriented.
He expressed satisfaction with the IYC’s decision to set up three strategic committees aimed at advancing the progress and development of the Ijaw nation.
IYC, he noted, will address issues including the marginalization of Edo Ijaw people, the Bille pollution crisis, and other critical matters affecting Ijaw communities.
