Inauguration: Ezekiel congratulates Oborevwori, appeals for youth inclusion in governance

Former aide to the immediate past governor of Delta State, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel has congratulated His Excellency, Sheriff Oborevwori on his inauguration as the governor of Delta State.

He said some cabals who have benefited from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for decades were responsible for the gang-up against the governor’s emergency.

According to him, the inaugural ceremony of the governor is a call for celebration for people like him and others who stood for the victory of the current governor despite the backlash and name-calling against them.

The former senior Special Assistant to the governor on security matters while speaking at the inaugural ceremony at Asaba said the victory of Oborevwori and his subsequent inauguration as governor of Delta State is divine following the strong opposition and what he described as gang up.

Ezekiel reiterated that Oborevwori would consolidate on the works of the Okowa’s administration and advance in them to move the state forward in all ramifications.

He called on Oborevwori to focus on youth inclusion and empowerment in his administration, adding that the Okowa-led administration succeeded because of the high emphasis placed on the youths.

The statement reads, “First and foremost, I want to say, it is the will of God that Deltans have converged in Asaba to witness the biggest event of Oborevwori and his deputy’s inauguration. It is miraculous and mind-blowing. Before this celebration, we all know what happened, there was a serious gang-up after the presidential election by some suspected cabals and youths against our immediate past governor, current governor Oborevwori and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“The gang up is within and outside the party. These are people who have benefited from the party for over a decade. But their plans, calculations and schemes failed. Today (May 29) we are celebrating the victory and the final inauguration of our governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori despite all the gang up and manipulations.

“The prayer of every good parent is for their children to do better. I heard vividly well when the immediate past governor, my boss Ifeanyi Okowa was talking, he said Oborevwori would consolidate on his works and advance in them to move the state forward. That is exactly, what Oborevwori stands for, to consolidate and to advance.

“We hope that Oborevwori will do more in terms of infrastructure development, political realignments, empowerment of women, and youths in the state as one of the cardinal points of the Okowa success in government.

“Before the Okowa administration, youths were only used and dumped, they were used for ballot box snatching, thuggery and as well as errands boys. But Okowa saw the potential of youths in societal development, peace and unity, and he brought them massively into govt, that is why Comrade Ozobo Austin, myself and several others were given the responsibility to serve and contribute to the advancement of the state. This makes Okowa outstanding among his predecessors. Let me use myself as a case study, when I was appointed, I was given the responsibility to liaise with the Edo govt, security agency and Delta state government, having considered my potential.

“It is my appeal that our Governor Oborevwori should focus more on the youths in his government because when more youths are given responsibility, it reduces crime and brings about peace and development in the society,” the former security aide added.
