The Ijaw People’s Development Initiative IPDI has called on the Inspector General of Police Mr Usman Alkali to immediately release the detained government officials, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel and Hon. God’stime Ogidigba without further delay.

The group’s national president, comrade Ozobo Austin appealed to Asaba, Delta state on Tuesday. Ozobo said the arrest and continuous detention of the government officials were unlawful, adding that the duo be released without further delay to avoid heating the polity in Niger Delta.

He stressed that there were several moves by youth bodies to stage a protest over the unlawful arrest and detention of the duo, narrating that he was among others that are calming such tides.

The group reiterated that IGP should use his good office to grant unconditional bail to the duo to avoid angry youths going to the streets.
