Jigawa Explosion: Over 90 Persons Died in Majiya

Over 90 persons have been confirmed dead following a tanker explosion at Majiya Town in Taura local government area of Jigawa State.

According to a press statement issued and signed by the Police Spokesperson, Mr Shi’isu Adam on 16th October 2024 in Jigawa said 50 persons hospitalised for different degrees of injuries due to the explosion.

”At about 11:30pm on Tuesday in Majia Town, Taura local government area of Jigawa, the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University and got exploded.

However, the driver left Kano and was going to Nguru in Yobe when the unfortunate incident happened,” Adam said.

He also emphasize that ”we are bothered that in spite of police warning people to stay clear from the accidents scene involving fuel tankers, they still engage in such acts.

“The main reason for the mass casualty is the large presence of people around the accident scene and a mass burial of the victims would hold by 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
