JUST IN: Ijaw Leader Chief Guwor Dies At 89

A prominent leader and advocate of the Ijaw nation, High Chief Council Guwor, the Olotu of Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has reportedly died at the age of 89 years.

However, Chief Council Guwor was an uncle to the current Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor before his demise.

It was gathered that he dedicated his life to the service of his people and promotes peace, unity and development in Ogulagha Kingdom and the Niger Delta at large.

According to family accounts, the death of Chief Guwor was an irreparable loss to Ogulagha Kingdom, particularly coming at a time when traditional institutions continue to play significant roles in sustaining peace, cultural values and community development.

While alive, Chief Guwor was said to have earned the respect of his people through years of service, leadership and commitment to the advancement of the kingdom.

Meanwhile, his demise has thrown the Guwor family, the people of Ogulagha Kingdom and Ijaw nation at large into mourning, with condolences expected from relatives, community leaders, political stakeholders and well-wishers.

According to the family details of the burial arrangements and other funeral activities would be announced in due time.
