Just In: Suspected hoodlums invade police checkpoint, kill sergeant in Bayelsa

Pandemonium in Kolo Community as unidentified hoodlums invaded a police checkpoint along Kolo-Ogbia road and killed a police sergeant.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state.
It was learnt the hoodlums reportely ransacked the police checkpoint and escaped with the deceased policeman service rifle.
When contacted, the police PPRO Bayelsa Command, SP Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident.
According to the police, “the Police officers who were conducting stop and search operations along Kolo-Ogbia Road, were attacked by gunmen suspected to be cultists, on 11 October, 2021, at about 2245hours.
“A Police inspector was fatally injured and his riffle was carted away. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the gunmen and recover the stolen riffle” he added.
