The Kebbi State Government has approved a N75,000 minimum wage for 17,620 teachers across the state.

A statement by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Abubakar Zaki, discloses that the approval follows the governor’s endorsement of the White Paper on the report of a committee set up to audit the teaching workforce and review the salary structure.

Zaki says teachers will begin to receive the new minimum wage from October 2026.

The union appreciates the state government’s investment in education, including the rehabilitation of 2,650 schools and construction of 200 new ones.

It further urges teachers to reciprocate the government’s gesture with renewed dedication, commitment and professionalism.
