Man beaten over stealing of wood in Delta

A middle-aged man identified as Egolukumo Jeremiah has been given a lesson of his life for stealing wood in the Ayakoromo community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was learnt that the outlaw was sanctioned by the resolution of the community’s last general meeting.

Our correspondent gathered the suspect was given twenty (20) strokes of the cane each by the four quarters which made up the community.

According to some residents, the outlaw stole woods (2×4 planks) during the previous community administration presided over by Mienkoromo Moses.

A community source said the suspect ran away from the community since then and decided to return when he noticed the change of government.

The incumbent chairman of the community Mr Richard Ebibofa Momoh confirmed the development to our correspondent.
