Following the recent publication of one Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, threatening to avenge the Nigerian military reprisal attacks and declare sit-at-home in Delta and Bayelsa States respectively, over what they described as targeted ethnic cleansing in both States by the Army.

According to a press statement signed by the National publicity secretary, Engr. Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, the INC had repeatedly condemned in strong terms, the attack on the military and the killing of 17 soldiers of the Nigerian army at Okuama Community in Delta State.

The INC also described the act as barbaric, sad, and unfortunate and called that the perpetrators of the heinous act be brought to book.

The INC had called on the Federal Government and the Military to apply the rule of engagement in the search for the culprits.

The INC condemned the invasion of communities and the destruction of innocent lives and properties in Bayelsa State.

He said, “In respect of the press statement made by the IPOB factional leader, Ijaw national Congress (INC) hereby debunk the press statement that claims lgbomotoru community in Bayelsa State and Okoloba community in Delta State are part of Biafra. The INC wants to make it abundantly and unequivocally clear that lgbomotoru and Okoloba are Ijaw communities and not part of Biafra. No inch of ljaw nation is part of Biafra.
The INC has said it earlier and will want to say it again to set records straight.

“The INC completely disassociate itself from the actions and planned action of the IPOB of avenging the death of people in those places. The IPOB is not doing it in the interest of the Ijaw nation. This planned action is not taken on our behalf and for us.
The federal government and the general public should take note of this.

“The INC is calling on all Ijaw sons and daughters to remain calm and be vigilant”, the statement reads.
