MMIA FIRE: Air passengers to use new terminal

By Hannah Nathan, Warri
Passengers at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) will now be processed through the new international terminal.
Following the catastrophic fire incident that took place at the international terminal on September 6, 2023, a new arrangement was made—an expedited relocation to the new MMIA international terminal.
Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection for FAAN, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, confirmed the development and stated that the airport was reacting to the demand for quick passenger amenities and the requirement to offer airport passengers a decent bargain.
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, instructed FAAN to move airlines to the new international terminal in preparation for MMIA Terminal 1’s closure by October 1, 2023, during his first visit to Lagos airport last week. This is in an effort to improve the passengers’ experience.
