Naira redesign: CBN debunks media report ordering banks to accept deposit of old N500, N1000

The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, has debunked media report making the round that its ordered banks to accept deposit of old N500, N1000 naira notes.

This was contained in a statement signed by the director, corporate communication, Mr Osita Nwanisobi on Friday.

The statement urged the general public to disregard the said media report, adding that the CBN was only directed to reissue and recirculate old N200 naira notes.

Nwanisobi explained that that the report was fake, stressing that it doesn’t emanate from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
