Nigeria, Israel to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Security, Technology, Agriculture

Nigeria and Israel have resolved to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security, defence, agriculture, technology, healthcare, and trade.

This was during a valedictory visit by the outgoing Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, in Abuja.

In a statement by the Media Aide Magnus Eze, the minister commended the Ambassador for his successful tour of duty, noting that it laid a solid foundation for his successor.

She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Israel in counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, and capacity building. She added that Nigeria is also seeking Israeli expertise in border security and water management.

Ambassador Freeman, on his part, reiterated Israel’s commitment to expanding cooperation. He noted that the current annual trade volume of about $200 million remains below potential.

He described Nigeria as an amazing country and pledged continued engagement to unlock the full potential of the relationship.
