The Nigerian community in the United Kingdom has been thrown into mourning following the death of 35-year-old Ekeobong Omega Nelson, who reportedly died in his sleep on October 17, 2026.

In a condolence announcement, the community described his passing as a devastating shock, noting that he was not known to be battling any illness before his sudden demise.

“He went to sleep and sadly did not wake up,” the statement read.

Nelson’s death has reportedly left his family, friends and members of the Nigerian community heartbroken, as he is survived by his wife and two young children.

Appealing for support, the community called on Nigerians in the UK, friends, well-wishers and other compassionate individuals to rally around the bereaved family during this difficult period.

It urged people to contribute financially towards providing Nelson with a befitting burial and easing the burden on his grieving wife and children as they come to terms with their loss.

The statement stressed that no contribution is too small, adding that every donation would make a meaningful difference and be greatly appreciated.

Beyond financial assistance, the community also encouraged members of the public to offer prayers, love and emotional support to the family as they navigate the painful loss.

It concluded by praying for God to strengthen Nelson’s wife and children to bear the irreparable loss and grant his soul eternal rest.
