NiMet forecasts three-day veil of dust from Wednesday

From Wednesday to Friday, there should be a modest amount of dust haze nationwide, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, or NiMet.

According to NiMet’s weather projection, which was made public on Tuesday, the northern region will have localized visibility of less than or equal to 1,000 meters and horizontal visibility of 2 to 5 kilometers.

“A hazy atmosphere is envisaged over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period, while moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is expected over the North Central region and the inland cities of the South during the forecast period,” the statement reads.

The organization emphasised that moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of two to five kilometers is also anticipated over the North, North Central, and inland cities of the South on Thursday during the forecast timeframe.

Over the course of the forecast period, it called for a foggy atmosphere over the nation’s coastal regions.

For the duration of the forecast period, NiMet anticipates a moderate dust haze on Friday with horizontal visibility of 2 to 5 km over the North, the North-central region, and the inland parts of the South.

“Hazy atmosphere is expected over the coastal cities during the forecast period, and the public should take necessary precautions as dust particles will be in the air.

“People with Asthma and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather situations.

“Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it noted.
