Oborevwori asked to account for 13% Derivation Fund Within 21-Day

By Peters Monday, Abuja
The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), Delta State Chapter, has given the Delta State Government a 21-day ultimatum to address the alleged neglect in the management of the 13% derivation fund. The group, which represents oil and gas bearing communities, expressed frustration over the deteriorating operational condition of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), which manages the fund.
HOSTCOM demanded:
1. Immediate release of five buses due to the body
2. Intervention in ensuring timely release of yearly subvention allocation
3. Accountability in the disbursement of the 13% derivation fund
4. Financing and activation of the abandoned HOSTCOM ICT Training Centre
5. Co-management of 50% of the 13% derivation fund by HOSTCOM
The group threatened to hold a peaceful protest if their demands are not met after the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum, citing Section 40 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and association.
