Kidnappings and Killings on Rise in Delta Communities

Residents of Delta communities are living in fear due to the increasing number of kidnappings and killings by suspected herdsmen and kidnappers. Despite the alarm raised by traditional rulers, the situation has worsened, with over 10 people killed and 50 kidnapped in the last year.
Farmers are afraid to go to their farms, and many have been forced to abandon their farmlands due to the constant attacks. The Abavo community has been particularly affected, with suspected herdsmen taking over farmlands and committing heinous crimes.
The community has appealed to the state government to establish an army barracks in the area to help combat the situation. They have also called for the intervention of the Inspector General of Police to address the rising insecurity.
The situation has had a devastating impact on the community, with businesses and schools affected, and many people living in constant fear.
