The commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State, Dr. Michael Adaralewa has given divisional officers and area commanders of the NSCDC in the state instructions to dealt with vandals who target vital infrastructures.

In a news briefing in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Adaralewa issued the order and demanded a statewide crackdown on vandals who attack power distribution facilities, like electrical transformers.
Several NSCDC officials, including heads of departments, units, area commanders, section heads, unit commanders, and divisional officers, were seen to attend the monthly commandant’s briefing.

Concerning the growing number of vandalism occurrences in certain parts of the state that target power transformers and electricity distribution systems, he voiced his concerns.

In order to combat the expected increase in criminal activity, Adaralewa also ordered heightened security presence at places of worship on Fridays, Sundays, and during the impending holiday season.

According to Adaralewa, “I am giving all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers in Oyo State a clear order to pursue vandals of transformers and other power distribution facilities.”
